Fan letter to Jane Austen

The other night I finished Pride and Prejudice and oh holy wow it is the most amazing thing ever. I finished at 12:59 AM because I couldn't put it down. It was intense. You know how you read certain books and then get to the end thinking well great now how am I going to go on, my life is pretty much over, there is nothing past this book, wot is lyf etc etc. And you want to just go straight back to the beginning and read it all over again because basically now all you want to do is dedicate your life to the book in question and possibly even be the author's slave. Except I don't think I could read it again for a while because that book is EXHAUSTING. It's like a roller coaster of events (I hate to use that cliche but it's so true) and basically emotional turmoil and quite frankly I think I need to rest myself before putting myself through it again. I am currently only consoled by two things - that I will study it later this year so will not only read it again but get to do stuff related to it in class, and Sherlock Holmes because Sherlock Holmes. And I'll probably reflect on this post-P&P period of my life as like my blue period. I'm not even a drama queen. I just, I can't even (WHAT? I DON'T KNOW THAT'S THE PROBLEM)
And because I am the most mega pathetic person ever and the aforementioned events have just magnified that, I decided hellz yeh I was going to write a fan letter to Jane Austen because I think it's always lovely to know people like what you do and she would be pleased to hear of how well her book's doing. And I hand wrote it and everything in the format that she uses in the book so she has to like it.

Elizabeth Bennet is just a rock star and Mr Darcy can be my favourite person too because idkasdfghjkl he is endlessly awesome and so lovely to Miss Darcy. I haven't seen the movie or the TV series because of my rule that I have to read the book first, which I am especially happy I followed in this instance because I can't imagine having found the book quite as excellent if I had.
I am probably going to re-read this post in a while and be so embarrassed but you know what future Katia I don't care. Everything that happened while I read this book is so going to make it a comfort book that when I'm older I come back to and get all these memories from and this is what I mean about youth nostalgia.

  1. I guess this might be what you mean by the TV series, but like, seriously, you HAVE to get super comfy in bed with lots of food RIGHT NOW and watch every episode of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries of youtube, and the Lydia Bennet ones, and look at the websites connected with it, SO THEN WE CAN FANGIRL TOGETHER. Like really though, it's the best thing ever, literally.

  3. I love the feeling of still being gripped by the book that I've just finished reading; still being completely immersed in its characters' lives and interactions. Pride and Prejudice is a brilliant work, one to return to again and again. I'm currently reading Northanger Abbey and Austen does gothic satire SO well in it.

    1. It's both the most wonderful and depressing feeling in the world! I still have yet to stop thinking about Pride and Prejudice, a true sign of it's lasting impression but I doubt that's difficult to believe. I can't wait to devour the rest of Austen.
